Altered
"To have journeyed together, if just for an instant, has altered them." "...has altered them". "I'd be interested to know more about the alteration, if you don't mind, dear."

I love this picture. It's so beautiful.
Kathryn: Thanks, Kay For me it is more symbolic than beautiful, but then again maybe it is beautifully expressive (much like being beautifully emotional)?
I definitely like the simplicity, good idea.
What caused the ripple??
Kathryn: Something connected, it seems.
This is about as simple an image as it gets Kathryn. It works for me because the ripple has come from the bottom left and is radiating out as a diagonal to the top right. Also the monochromatic blue is just right.
Kathryn: Thanks, Bill. The way I define and see being "altered," is a basic and simple one that demands a basic and simple image.
But I see Ray's comment looming below, which is tempting me to move to complex ;-)
Subtle and beautiful.
Kathryn: Two qualities to which I aspire.
Simple but effective!
Kathryn: Effectively simple?
Thanks, Steven with a ph. Kathryn with an ryn
Pure simplicity - you don't need anything more.
Ingrid
Kathryn: Nice to know, Ingrid.
The length of the journey....the passage of time...dilutes the adhesion of the relationship...
Hopefully it is still enough...
Kathryn: both remain altered, beyond the adhesion of the relationship
Very subtle abstract. My complements.
Kathryn: Thank you, Frank. I am not generally so subtle, although I aspire to be.
Isn't it the essence of truth that ray divulged there in a moment of absolute clarity. The man never ceases to amaze me. The question remains - how strong is the glue? To which I have no answer.
Big jump back into my young days: 'All you need is love, love, love is all you need' if memory doesn't fail me that was John Lennon. Wise man. OK, I googled it and yes these are the Beatles' lyrics for the song: Love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love. There's nothing you can do that can't be done. Nothing you can sing that can't be sung. Nothing you can say but you can learn how to play the game It's easy. There's nothing you can make that can't be made. No one you can save that can't be saved. Nothing you can do but you can learn how to be in time It's easy. All you need is love, all you need is love, All you need is love, love, love is all you need. Love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love. All you need is love, all you need is love, All you need is love, love, love is all you need. There's nothing you can know that isn't known. Nothing you can see that isn't shown. Nowhere you can be that isn't where you're meant to be. It's easy. All you need is love, all you need is love, All you need is love, love, love is all you need. All you need is love (all together now) All you need is love (everybody) All you need is love, love, love is all you need.
Kathryn: The length of the journey is immaterial, Louis. It is the connect made during the journey, that alters them beyond the adhesion of the relationship.
Great Lennon song! Thank you for posting it.
Lovely shot Kathryn
Kathryn: Thanks so much, Aussie.
Very significant, Kathryn. Ripples are quite fundamental to the physics of this world.
Kathryn: So say the string theorists, Chad.
Beautiful color and the rimple is so subtle.
Kathryn: Thanks much, Astrid.
Minimalist shot giving a maximum of emtions!
Kathryn: Now that is a great way of putting it, Richard!
...the quiet surface was
disturbed by those mischievous ripples... for how long?
Kathryn: ...the quiet surface was
moved by those mischievous ripples and the real question is how deeply?
A very philosophical shot. But has anything really been altered once the wave has passed? And isn't it the nature of waves to travel unaltered? It certainly makes a person think!
Kathryn: It certainly does, Martin. I am not a physics kinda person, but I bet you can explain it all to me in those terms.
In a more humanistic way, any meaningful journey, encounter, exchange leaves both altered. The length of the journey is immaterial.
That's a very nice subtle shot Kathryn
Kathryn: Thank you so much, Chris and please forgive the slow response.
I agree with Stephen - the simplicity is what makes it effective. The framing is what makes it really work.
Kathryn: Thanks, Jewlya, I am working hard on composition and my teacher is a task-master.
you are a deep thinker and emotional human Kathryn, this is very evident in your work and words.
What will be the effect of the ripples and did it matter that they were together or even did they know that they were together! mal
Kathryn: Mal, do you have a crystal ball there with you as you seem be able read me quite accurate.
they are both altered, if they realize it or not...
Lovely blue tones, my favorite color. Great effective simplicity.
Kathryn: Thank you so much. John. The blue has such a tranquil effect.
Simple image I like it
Kathryn: "Make everything as simple as possible, but not simpler" (Albert Einstein)
Lovely
Kathryn: Thanks kindly, Chris.
I very like your discussion with VZ and I like your sensitive, charming allusion in this pic. Concentrical (konzentrische) circles (Kreise) evoced by only one little stone which has been thrown into the water are the best explanation of what you may have meant with the term 'alteration' -and what we are wishing! Your pic self is the best example for that!
But are you so sure that we often can create more than one circle by discussing and joining each other and journeying together and teaching (you know...) and however communicating? The most people rotate around themselves and are not able to communicate really, except they are filled with love. I like concentrical circles in the water and I self like to throw away a little stone, titscher, titscher... because of their symbolical meaning, and I have experienced that such a spreading, expansion of ideas, feelings, interests, enthousiasm... can really happened, dass ein Funke überspringt und etwas bewegt (an other metaphor)- and this can be called then a kind of happiness!
Kathryn: That makes two of us you very much like the discussion with VZ.
I am not so sure, Philine, but I am sure that when the term journeying together is used, for me it implies something meaningful, and where there is a meaningful encounter--the two are altered in way that may not be evident at the time--the affect of the encounter ripples. You are so very right in the way you describe it..."spreading, expansion of ideas, feelings, interests, enthusiasm..."
Simplicity at it's best
Nice use of space
Kathryn: Thanks, Sheeplover. Perhaps the space used me.
i've seen the effect on the water and now imagine the one on the stone.
your posts Kathryn, are feasts for thought.
Kathryn: Are you so sure it was a stone, Terry?
