Clarity
comments (22)
Just love the shadows and light shining through and the lines in the petals and the fact that you made it a black and white. Very nice.
Kathryn: Laura, the mixture of shadows and light are what give clarity to this image for me. One without the other would make each less.
Thanks for the comment.
Great B&W, the sun/shadow gives a nice pattern on the leaves, very well spotted and captured
Kathryn: thanks, Astrid
Great composition, Kathryn. with an abstarct feel to it. I love the tones and slivers of light.
Kathryn: Those slivers of light give such clarity, Chad.
Very nice light/shadow play here! Great use of the DOF. Well spotted!
Kathryn: Thanks, Richard.
I like the tone and the viens of the leaves. Interested in the choice of title though, to me the pic is relatively cluttered, or is that the point?
Kathryn: but with enough clarity that you were able to see the veins of the leaves? ;-)
All about the light ;o)
Kathryn: All about the light or the lack thereof
I love the little chaos in this pic- the diverging ? divergierende) lines- and naturally the light-/shadow-play, a flood of light which seems to increase and to increase so that I have to protect my eyes... The title is a bit provocing, clarity? I'm not sure if we will find it, there are only parts, fragments of clarity!
Kathryn: Philine, for me, clarity often peeks out in very small fragments from chaos. I have never experienced a once and for all grand CLARITY. Finding clarity for me is messy, complex, and takes a keen and insightful eye to discern. Add to the mix that one woman's clarity is another man's "not sure about its clarity though" and it becomes even messier.
The shreds of light here offer clarity to what otherwise seems chaotic.
in a world that owes clarity unto the eye that beholds it, i see clarity owing itself to the blur.. and the blur owing everything to the world that ignores it.
your picture, Kathryn, has me putting my thoughts in dof.
Kathryn: so very well put, terry. we are in complete agreement on the clarity in the eye of the beholder and being contextualized in the blur.
thoughts in DOF...deep, Terry. Thank you for pushing me to think on the next level.
Love the light, the curves, the interplay of shadows in this one. Super.
Kathryn: I agree, the interplay among all--light, shadows, curves offers so much clarity to me.
This is a beautiful shot Kathryn well spotted
Kathryn: Thanks, Tracy for looking at my photograph, liking it, and leaving a message.
Very clever work and artistic result !!
Kathryn: Thanks much, Imaginerf.
cool angle to shoot this from. did u add effect to this as well.
Kathryn: Thanks ChaCha, I was looking up into the backlit bamboo when I shot it. No effect other than the conversion to B&W and a slight tweak on the contrast.
I've missed you! Your pictures always challenge and this is no exception. I love the tones and the feeling of being inside this plant
Kathryn: What a beautiful comment, Bill---to tell me you've missed my presence here. Not only are my pictures a challenge, but I can be a bit of challenge too
Nice to know the tones suit you and that you feel surrounded by the plant. That is how I felt when I was sitting there looking up at the bamboo over my head and the sunlight fighting for its space.
Love the image, Kathryn, but tell me more about clarity, please. I think we have different concepts of clarity.
Kathryn: Viktor, perhaps if you tell me a bit about your concept of clarity, we'd have a place to begin the discussion. I have posted, in part, my thoughts on clarity in response to Philine and others, but you've given no inkling of your concept of clarity. Please clarify clarity?
well spotted, by the way, as well as captured. hahahahahahaha
Kathryn: I am good at spotting and capturing..I learned those skills when i was a trapper in the great white north...perhaps you've heard of me..Kathnuk of the North?
Picking up on Bill's comment, Kathryn, I have the feeling of being safe inside this plant...this hiding place, this womb...with some glimmers of hope on the outside. Interestingly, it does not feel messy here on the inside where I am...it feels safe. If the outside is messy, as it usually is, there are at least glimmers of light, which give some clarity, perhaps, if not hope.
I'm guessing most of us at one time or another have to come out from the "safe zone" and face the light/truth/clarity! All that from a "simple" photo!
Kathryn: Ginnie, this post is such a gift because you hit on many of the elements I was thinking in regards to clarity.
Plantastic Kat
interesting shot playing with light and darkness.
missed this Kathryn, stunning shot indeed, love the light/ shadows and yes the clarity of the leaves but i also feel it at a air of mystic about it
Those leaves fighting has a peacefull touch... Love that picture Kathryn
Kathryn: I feel it too, Sune. The peacefulness flows...
Oh my God it so soft, intimate, delicate... Congratulations - Laurence
Kathryn: Laurence---I just found your message--months late. Forgive me as I have had some health issues. I am so glad you find this as soft and delicate as I do. The intimacy in my images is a given, after all, most are a glimpse inside my soul.
Today I have discovered your photos, and I fall in love in toue work. Great, really!!!
