In The Wind

I like the simplicity of the black and white treatment.
Kathryn: Thanks, Red Pen. Simplicity is often quite complex to achieve, isn't it?
I like the idea, but find the composition somewhat lacking in focus.
Kathryn: Yes it is somewhat lacking in focus. Glad you noticed, Martin.
Very soft, very delicate. Though I can see Martin's point, I think the lack of focus works. For some reason, it feels like it should have an inspirational quote above it.
Kathryn: Jewlya, the softness and lack of focus is intentional so I am glad to know it works for you. Which inspiration quote would you add?
Wonderful treatment and perspective, Kathryn. I love this shot.
Kathryn: Kay, thank you. I am feeling like those grasses at the moment.
Whispering grasses ... very seductive. richard
Kathryn: Very seductive Richard is right.
Amazing how a simple subject like seed plumes of grass make such a great picture.
I am dithering on Martin's point. If they were sharp, the grasses wouldn't have been "In the Wind" - so depends on what came first - picture or the title. Still like it.
Kathryn: Yes it is amazing. I seem to be taken with them as I have quite a few images of them, Louis. They make difficult subjects though. If they were sharp, they would be Martin's photograph. They are soft, they are Kathryn's photograph.
Nice to know you like Kathryn's photograph.
Peaceful and poetic photo ... I really enjoy it !!!
Kathryn: Thank you, Ann. Now if you'd be a dear and write something poetic to go with it...You have a way with words, I've noticed.
Simple....stunning....love the DOF, nice one again Kathryn
Kathryn: Charmed you like it, Astrid.
The lack of focus makes it a nice relaxing shot that would look good on the wall.
Kathryn: Pops, i think there is a time for pinpoint focus and a time for a lack of focus, don't you?
this is from a dream. a simple, happy one. love it !
Kathryn: Odd how our dreams have ways of influencing our art, isn't it terry..or not.
Very nice composition Kathryn.I like the very slight blur giving the "in the wind" effect. I also like the soft tones. Well done
Kathryn: Thanks, Richard. The rustling in the wind and the softness of those grasses called me,
Those grasses never want to be sharply in focus, Kathryn--at least that's what I've determined. So I'm glad you went with THEIR flow! (Which apparently was also yours, which I like!)
Kathryn: They are hard to get in focus. I think the most in focus, I've done was this one http://blinkofaneye.shutterchance.com/photoblog/Silver_Dew
Nice to know you like my flow. ps. I am back in Germany for now.
Nice, delicate shot Kathryn.
Kathryn: Thanks much, Bernie.
It is the backdrop to the lower half of the painting [oooops....picture] that really gets my attention here, Kathryn...more grass, or sentinel trees, or a group of people emulating the grasses!
Kathryn: Agreed, Ray. Nice to know we are on the same page.
I like much since you have obtained that defocusing that is so pleasant!
you are moody Kathryn. beautiful. mal
Kathryn: Yes I am a moody Kathryn. And it takes a moody to know one
I like Kathryn's photographs too, and wish I was blowing in the wind as well. The nice tonal quality of the shot makes it work for me ;o)
Kathryn: Thanks, Mike. I guess we all have to follow our own muses, right?
Nice shot Kathryn, I love seeing long grass swaying in the wind
Kathryn: You and me too, Aussie. Pixelpixie recently posed a beautiful shot of long grass swaying in the wind, check it out if you haven't. It is amazing.
Whispering Grass, don't tell the trees, cos the trees don't need to know.
It was the first thing that came into my head when I saw this.
Kathryn: "Why tell them all your secrets
Who kissed there long ago? Whispering grass The trees don't need to know Now don't you tell it to the breeze 'Cos she will tell it to the trees"
I'm with Bill...that tune will be in my head now though!
Kathryn: Then I will post to you the same thing I posted to Bill so you can finish the song..
"Why tell them all your secrets Who kissed there long ago? Whispering grass The trees don't need to know Now don't you tell it to the breeze 'Cos she will tell it to the trees"
And there I was thinking of the song Blowing in the wind.
I think I know what Martin meant, not about the lack of focusing but being not sure where to look. Doesn't mean it isn't a lovely picture though, because I like it a lot
Kathryn: Thanks much for your perspective, Ellie.
...please play with me, grass said to wind, and so he surely did...
Kathryn: I love the idea of the grass calling to the wind to come and play...
I agree. The softness makes the picture almost ethereal.. very, very delicate, but powerful nonetheless.
Beautiful ! A clever choice of B&W gives a very artistic image ! Bravo !
