Lonely
Taken using a 1 second shutterspeed and a slight zoom and pan. No tripod and no Photoshop. Let's hope I am not arrested for stalking :-) Since I started with this type of photography, I've been become quite bold about following and photographing people! I am renaming this photograph "Lonely" and dedicating it to Chad http://chad.shutterchance.com

Mal is going to love your new style, I'd say. I love the intense colour.
Kathryn: Thanks, Mary. I am working on it. The colors are so rich, aren't they?
You clearly have found a style that works, Kathryn, so GO FOR IT! This is the classic "older" woman with her purse. But I would have pegged her as shopping.
Kathryn: Ginnie, thanks much! The church is a very old one, in fact, there is a 1000 year old rosebush located in the courtyard of the church. It is also right near the city center, so I suspect she had been shopping prior to her stop at the church.
I'm enjoying your experimentation. Yesterday's worked better for me, because the subject was surrounded by a nice tunnel of blur. This feels less structured. However, the bit of red helps pull attention nicely.
Kathryn: Thanks for your comment, Jewlya. It seems we are both experimenting
Love this image, Kathryn.
The lady seems to be striding along purposefully, both hands full of the day's shopping. Your image has aged her. The pavement is like molten lava.
Kathryn: Thanks, Ray. Amazing how the colors are amplified with this technique, huh?
Love the pavement it has formed such nice streaks of colour.
Kathryn: Thanks, Aussie. Those lights in the church did the trick.
good experimentation...nice picture....
I like the experimentation. These snaps appear more like an abstract painting to me....with swift brush strokes !
Kathryn: Same here and I love the softness of them and the apparent strokes.
Nice continuation Kathryn !
I am really liking this style! Strange how everyone sees things differently - I see a tired and lonely old lady. (Though she`s not completely alone because she has her stalker - lol!) Love the texture of the floor. (:o)
Kathryn: Yeah and her stalker will follow her for hours trying to capture her image and essence on the camera. What more can she ask for? lol!
Better and better K'. The gold light really does the trick ...richard.
The more you practice this style of picture, the better you are. Cograts Kathryn!
You stalker you
Kathryn: Thanks much, Louis. I am trying.
I like yesterday's better but this is another good one. Keep them coming Kathryn, they are very interesting.
Kathryn: Couple more on the horizon, Bill. Glad you are enjoying them.
this lady is being followed, lovely atmosphere. mal
Kathryn: Yes, she is and wasn't it you who told me to follow people? Thanks for all your help and your comments, Mal
Nice shot Kathryn - like the rich colours.
This one is so warm of colour, love it, ( in Amsterdam a pro photographer got arrested while making pictures of people, they will fight it out in the courtroom
Kathryn: Astrid, thank you for your comments. Yes, I actually wondered about the legality of it here in Germany and looked up the policy just to be safe. But you know that is a good discussion topic.
Great shot,You have mastered this type of phototgraphy well.
Kathryn: Thanks, Tracy. A couple more to come in the next few days.
I like it...a lot of nice colours
I like this series very much. There is certainly a sense of lonliness you get from looking at this. From her stance she looks as though she is bemused by all that is going on around her.
Ingrid
Your'e doing well with these Kathryn.
Great image! You have executed this really well and got an amazing result. Bravo!
Lovely, artistic, and very well done... I like it !!!
For me its not in the same league as yesterday's but still a good image. I like the flash of red "emerging" from the lhs of her head, almost like a "sacred heart".
I think it helps to have something stationery in the blur - yesterday the figure almost moved with your zoom, keeping it's shape. Here all is moving and without the red the image wouldn't be of note. (being harsh - but trying to help. Perhaps try holding still for a moment longer before you move the camera as an experiment. Or come to rest before the shutter closes.
Kathryn: Mike, thanks so much for your honest and thoughtful critique and some suggested techniques. I will wotk a little more on this.
Such an suitable title I feel. I envy you being able to take these kind of shots. My camera is just too basic. The colors are nice as well.
You're enjoying these, aren't you?
You've got the knack too, well done.
Well done!
