Secret
my secret sneaks silently out the window on the tears of a cello, and skates away Hey, I want to thank everyone for continuing to visit my blog, even though my commenting and postings have been sporadic. As some of you may know, I am in the USA for a while dealing with a health issue and my time for photography and participating in the SC community has been precious little. Hopefully, some time in the not so distance future, I will be able to post regularity and visit your sites with more regularity. --Kathryn

such a precious photo; so simple yet so profound. loving it so much
Kathryn: M'roy, I wonder what you find so profound about this image. WHen I look at it and try move my thoughts beyond it sneaking out my window, floating away, and skating on the Milky Way. I get stuck.
You keep producing stuff of the similar beguiling quality as this post, Kathryn, and it will be very difficult to stay away.
Kathryn: Ray, is this photograph more beguiling than let's say laundry clips? ;-)
Simply beautiful Kathryn. Don't ask me why, but I see "hope" in this picture!
Kathryn: I see hope too...if only I could slip out the window on the tears of a cello and skate on the Milky Way. Now that is something to hope for, isn't it?
Interesting colour and composition, Kathryn. It seems as if this feather is floating, though it clearly is not.
Kathryn: It was floating on the tears of a cello, Chad, in a lake of them to be precise. So yes, it clearly is floating.
I like this alot, cos i would have taken it too
Kathryn: Nig, me thinks you are a dreamer too. WHen I look at some of your photographs, the pull me into a dream world of soft hues and shapes.
Beautiful, simple photograph Kathryn. The white feather as a symbol has great significance for me also. I hope you get over your health problems very soon.
Ingrid
Kathryn: Ingrid, oh now I am so curious---would you kindly tell the symbolism of the white feather for you. I am trying to think about this feather and I am stuck with the image of it fluttering out my window on the tears of cello music and skating away on the Milky Way.
The simplest image yet with the loudest impact. Beautiful image. I hope your health issue will be over soon.
Kathryn: Scarlet, now that is a very profound though..."simple yet with the loudest impact." It is much like using a whisper to speak loudly.
Hope you are better soon Kathryn. This is a picture of delightful simplicity and suggests you are at peace with yourself.
Kathryn: Thanks, Bill. Delightful simplicity, what a beautiful concept.
This feather seams to be floating, the color of this picture is so intense, yes please keep faith and hope, if we loose that....
Hope your treatment will be succesful and I will not stay away from your blog, your pictures are too good to ignore.
Kathryn: Astrid, the feather is floating on a lake of tears cried by a cello.
Thanks for your well wishes.
Excellent composition!!
Kathryn: Thanks, my photography mentor has worked hard on my composition skills. He'll be delighted to know I hit the mark on this one.
Coming to the states soon? When and for how long?
Hope your health issue is not too serious and you're back at it soon. Until then, be careful when plucking chickens.
Kathryn: Mary, bird flu? Now there is a new slant on it all. Althought every time I go to the hospital, they ask me if I have been hanging around with chickens while I was in Europe. Next time, I might put a couple of small feathers in my hair and get a embarassed looking when they ask hahahahahah
Beautiful Kathryn
Kathryn: Well now I am not so sure about beautiful, but I have been told I have beautiful eyes
another cracker of a shot kathryn
hope you are feeling better soon! Not nice to hear you ar not well!
Kathryn: Thanks much, Liam. Gald you like the "cracker of a shot."
Great simplicity, Kathryn. And best of luck with the health issues!
Kathryn: The art of simplicity is making it look simple, when it really is quite complex, Martin.
It is nay the time
Still wish soft as a feather the time to be here Away and lay down in the heather The first thought when the picture opened, was 'delicate'. What is more delicate than our tenure? Excellent picture. I will imagine you have spent all the time since the last blog creating this image. Get better soon.
Kathryn: Oh Louis, i so much love heather--purple is my second favorite color, but for years it was my first and heather has such an intensely beautiful hue of purple.
We are delicate, aren't we? But i am a strong woman. This shot, only about 2 minutes of working on it required--I took it and then looked at the feather, smiled at the way the water was so gentle with it, gave it a little crop, and then upped the intensity of the blue and said..."yeah that's it." And then let it sit around for a couple of weeks, while I kept it my secret and thought about it. Thanks for the well wishes.
...next time a magic bow of a cello
turns you into a weightless feather and a loud call of river frogs Breezes you through the open window remember, the Milky Way is not the way to happy ending...
Kathryn: any girl,
with wild strawberries on her toes, would be charmed, to slip out the window on the tears of a cello, while the river frogs serenade her and drift along the Milky way on morninggloried pontoons.
Sorry to hear you are not well Kathryn. Lets hope your issues are soon delt with, and you are back to 100%
Kathryn: Thanks much. Tracy. Appreciate the well wishes.
really hope everything goes well for you back in your home land Kathryn, and as for the image well that says Kathryn all over it, MY BEST WISHES......TIM
Kathryn: Hi Tim. Thank you so much for the well wished. I'll be back as soon as I can, although I may post from time to time as I can.
Very delicate image, Kathryn. The variations in the darkness of the sky really help pull this together.
Kathryn: Feathers are delicate, Jewlya. The variations in the water was the effect of the clouds in the sky.
Splendid capture Kathryn
Kathryn: Chris, thank you so much.
Well Kathryn, you certainly have got folk examining their navels - so here's my take.
The feather represents freedom; of movement, from connections, of purpose, of thought and the blue background shows that true freedom exists only in emptiness or a vacuum. So true freedom - from pain, from illness, from stress and pressure, from oppression, only comes at a price that is more than most of us can afford. Our lives are not and never really can be completely free so we must share our struggle in order to achieve and maintain such freedoms as are possible. I hope some freedom from pain and illness comes from sharing here on Shutterchance. Good luck, get well soon.
Kathryn: Well, Ron, your thoughtful analysis of my photograph (and me) has taken it to another level. Viktor's prose and your analysis really have validated for me the posting of this image, beyond any visual or photographic value it may (or may not have) because we have exchanged ideas that are more important to me than the photograph in and of itself.
Ron, I do not think there is such a thing as true freedom--at any cost, thus I celebrate and embrace small freedoms. The trick is to recognize them as freedoms
Lovely
Kathryn: Thanks!
