Secrets

Here's how powerful this is to me, Kathryn: if you're living with a secret that cannot now be told, you LOOOOONG for those glimpses of open light, promising you can one day be free to step outside the darkness.
Kathryn:
Secrets....how well can people keep secrets, sometimes it is best to keep those to oneself.
Even sharing with the best of friends may end up knowing what to say and what not to say......
Kathryn: Very true, Astrid. And then I've found that there are times when my secrets only matter to me, the rest of the world really does not even take notice or care about them.
well kept forever
behind the inner bars they will come out one by one to be embraced by a trusting soul
Kathryn: inner bars forged from the strongest steel,
succumb to the soft touch of a trusting soul
I like the light that leads us in
and the light around the door but the light in the window at the end is a case where less is more. It is just a little too bright and is killing the bars of the door. But...oh do I want to enter and discover the secret!
Kathryn: Thanks much, Bill. The sun was very bright at the end of the hall and thus the window is bright. Although i like to think i can control many things, the sun has yet to succumb to my command
Secrets, aren't we all tempted by them? There is something in us that loves to discover secrets. At the mere mention, we are taken in by the possibility of uncovering a secret.
A very interesting, beautifully composed photo- steps by steps, coming up from the darkness, we get nearer and nearer to the light- it seems to be a way of five or more grades, we have to overcome some obstacles for the doors are opened but still closed (for uns), the window is open but we don't know if that would be a first destination of our voyage and where and when we might arrive?- a picture full of a deep symbolism reminding me of some religious and semireligious groups (for example oddfellows) or of kafkaesk situations. I could also follow your inspiring title "secret-s" or think of fairy tales where somme exercises have to be fulfilled before..--apart from that it is a wonderful, fascinating pic because of the contrast of dark and light and the climax of light.
I always love door- and window-photos and paintings (see Caspar David Friedrich...) which try to capture the transcendence from one level to the other, from inside to outside, maybe from 'here' to 'there' (supranatural)... Thank you very much for this pic!
Kathryn: Philine--the layers upon layers of things hidden--secrets. Thank you for your kind and insightful comment. Since you love window photos, have a look at this one

Like this one Kathryn.
Kathryn: Nice to know, Aussie.
lovely blogging again kathryn
even brought out the poet in bill
Kathryn: awww thanks, Doc. Every now and then Bill is given to wax poetically
This is good! The secrets seem to be of the warm kind, which is preferable over the cold dark type. I like your story here.
Kathryn: They are the kind that you can't wait to whisper into the ear of a trusting soul
Kathryn I like this I just wish had words like so many other bloggers.
Kathryn: Your words are fine, Vintage. Thanks for them.
Except for Dogs and Squirrels, which have secret stashes for their food stores, Humankind may be the only animals that are seriously into "secrets"; for us, it seems to be the stuff of delayed shame or, more likely, of self fantasy.
What about unrevealed secrets...like their keeper, soon enough they become dust. Secrets, I think, crave bright doorways...
Kathryn: Or a mix of shame and self-fantasy/delusion.
Secrets look for bright doorways, it is their only escape.
Wow, wish we had taken this
Kathryn: Thanks much. Nice compliment.
steps up leading to a door...a way out? lights too!!! but wait, there's a gate...but it's not locked!!!
i'm back blogging Kathryn!
Kathryn: Maybe it means I am dying to whisper my deep dark secrets to a willing ear.
Nice you are back! Posting on Shutter or elsewhere?
You never can know what happens in another (wo)man's house.
An open door can let the secrets out. I must say this almost prison-like setting ties in with 2 million wrong doings in some way Excellent picture.
Kathryn: The secret looks like it is begging to be told.
This is an old interrogation/holding cell on the east side of the wall in Germany. I wonder how many secrets were made there and told there.
Just keeping it simple...just posting on elementalview.shuttterchance.
(responding here as my replies keep getting bounced back)
Mysteriously half-inviting.
Kathryn: A mysterious half-invite sounds intriguing.
Ah, beautiful and wonderful. I love this photo. It gets the imagination going.

Kathryn: Thanks, Kay.
Makes me feel left all alone. Very nice.
Kathryn: Just like me, Nadine, left feeling all alone. Thanks for your visit.
"This is an old interrogation/holding cell on the east side of the wall in Germany. I wonder how many secrets were made there and told there." While reading this information I think of horrible experiences and stories which my family told.
Kathryn: I did too while walking around in there, Philine.
Just wanted to send you a message, the shot of the reeds that you requested is posted today!
I love the way you have presented this capture. The title has the mind racing and wodering what the secret might be. With so many things making the news headlines these days many have come to my thoughts. I always think every picture tells a story. This image may hold many. Very well done.
Kathryn: Thanks so much. I wonder what story it tells you.
Thank you very much to open a little bit your hide secrets!
Kathryn: My pleasure to have given you Just a little peek into my secrets, Josep.
secrets that once were in the desolate darkness have found their way out. but Kathryn, it's nice inside. here where there is so much light. the unseen kind shed by artists and lovers of art. i'm happier here. where my eyes are the windows to this world within. let that be our secret.
Kathryn: terry, i am a keeper of secrets, mostly i keep them from myself.
I want to know more about the unseen light, please?
Kathryn, the first thing that occurred to me when i saw this image was the fact that the way out was possible. despite the bars, the gate is open. that coupled with the light outside drew me to believe in possibility being more valuable than position. that's why i went so far as to call the darkness desolate.
but as i took a few tentative steps towards the light, i realized what i was leaving behind was not darkness at all. the black colour of your blog page is but an apparent darkness. it is in truth, brilliance punctuated by brilliance. your artistic, poetic and philosophical brilliance and that of our interpretations. because the colour of this page merges with the darkness of the image, it's easy for me to want to stay. right here |
