I like this as an abstract. It is well framed for this purpose. You could try cropping some of the yellow area on the right.
Kathryn: Thanks, Martin. I vacillated on the angle and framing. Not sure if I am crazy about it so centered, but at the time, it beat the alternatives.
What an impressive image this is. You have a great eye, Kathryn, to have seen the beauty in this seemingly everyday mundane object.
I like the shadows most of all, and I suppose they were not there until you set of a flash.
Kathryn: Ray, thanks for the compliment. My detail oriented eyes are going though. New glasses will be here next week, let' hope they help! Yes, I flashed it. You seem to have a great eye yourself.
Fabulous abstract. Lovely colour and lines. (:o)
Kathryn: Glad you like it, Rosalyn. I personally think the painter could have done a little better of a job when he dabbed on the gray
Well spotted, it makes a nice abstract.
Kathryn: Thanks, Aussie. This one has been sitting in my photos folder feeling sort of neglected, so I decided give it a little spot on SC.
Very nice abstract.
Kathryn: Now that is a compliment coming from someone who is a master at making abstracts from everyday objects!
good use of lines kathryn
love the colours too
Kathryn: Awww thanks. Doc. I can take the credit for the good use of lines, but I am afraid the credit for the colors goes to the guys who run the ferryboat to Texel!
Excellent and I like the crop too. Simple strong and with complementing colours.
Kathryn: Louis, some times simple is a good thing. At the moment I feel like i need simple. Thanks for your comment and looking.
Love the colours they work very well with this abstract style shot.
Kathryn: Thank you, Tracy! Those people in Holland paint everything such lovely and bright colors!
I'm not big on abstracts but I do rather like this Kathryn
Kathryn: Thanks, Bill...glad you like it even if you are not into abstracts.
Very simply elegant, Kathryn. The power of lines, angles and colors!
Kathryn: Thanks so much, Ginnie.
Very nice abstract composition. I like the colour tones
Kathryn: Thanks. Richard and thank you for looking.
Love the diagonal abstract composition of this and the colours are superb. This is all you need.

Very modernist! Agree with Martin, the yellow is a little weighty. I also think the painter did a good job with the grey - very painterly brush work ;o)
If you were after an abstract image here, Kathryn, then you got to visit Andy Bell's Deceptive Media site.
http://www.deceptivemedia.co.uk/default.asp He's a big master of semi-abstract close-up shots. He works really well with textures. Just flip through his archive, when you have time. Z
Kathryn: I looked and I was completely in awe of his stuff. I think he is using HDR on some of it. Amazing. Thanks for recommending his site.
Nice graphic colored shot...
Cool blue, like the abstract
Great concept. Perfect colour, perfect lines I like this!
