Very creative use of backlighting. These through the doorway shots can have so much effect when done right (as this one is).

So much truth in this picture, sometimes we have to close the door for our own protection and go on with our lifes how difficult it will be and how much it will hurt.....

Kathryn: Oh but, Astrid, isn't the sweetness of it all in the "how much it will hurt?" We go on, but we go on changed...too late to go on unchanged, too late to forget, too late not to have it live on in one's heart. Opening the door is emotionally risky. Keeping it closed is emotional death.

I've seen her in concert and she is so creative and a poet, really. The quality of her productions set the bar in the music industry and many audio freaks love her because in addition to her musical talent.

While the image and the song are very emotional and seemingly sad. I find it beautiful to have had a relationship so deep and meaningful that it leaves one changed....too late to be unchanged.

Now I like this a lot - but no surprises there ;o) Implied narrative, darkness into light, enigmatic figure...

Kathryn: Thanks Martin! Have you ever visited Checkpoint Alpha? I took this photograph there and the place was in shambles. Buildings left open with windows smashed in, door ripped of hinges, etc. I was astonished by the way it has gone to rubble.

Actually, I was roaming around in this old ransacked place, when I took the image. Initially I was a bit annoyed when the person stepping infront of my shot, but once I looked through the viewfinder, I though...yup, stay right there and don't move. I got a couple of photographs similar, but the lighting on the door on the floor and the casting of the shadow was strongest on this one. Nice to know I hit the mark with it.

Here is the scoop.
1. Rip a song and upload it to a server. Or simply find one on line that suits your fancy.
2. Use this code BUT alter it to put < infront of EMBED src AND > after hidden=true WITH NO SPACES before or AFTER either. Make sure you put cut out thenameofthewebURLwhereyoursongresides.com and you put in the actual website address of your song. If you want to embed a little player so the user can control the music (which I did not), zip me an email and i will write the code and send it to you and tell you how to alter it to make various size players.

This is amazing. I managed to find time to reply to some of the comments on my photographs today, but this is the first chance I have had to look at everyone else`s. This one perfectly illustrates something I said to you in an e mail about five mintues ago, namely, that you have a fantastic gift for projecting real emotions into your photographs. (:o) I find this such a powerful image. Although each viewer`s thoughts may strike off in different directions, I would like to bet that everyone who has viewed this will have paused and thought deeply about it.

My own personal thoughts were about how difficult I find `goodbyes` and `accepting changes` and `and taking big, scary decisions which can`t be retracted`.
