Veiled

I like the grid overlay. I am not sure about the person who seems to have an abnormally long neck.
She is from the Wuthering Heights for me, Kathryn. Does not Martin know she has long, flowing, windswept hair (veiled or not)?
Kathryn: Ginnie, you are an eternal optimist and that is a very good quality to have, I suspect.
Nice creative shot, you are really making a good job of these shots Kathryn.
Kathryn: Kind of you, Tracy.
Oh wow - there you go again. Hounds of Baskerville will soon jump into the scene. Excellent veiling effect.
Another one for the likey wall. Yours may soon be declared my third official likey site if this habit continues.
Kathryn: Thanks much, Louis. I think this one is an acquired taste. It seems you have that taste. Thanks much.
Potent. This is a dark and disturbing vision K'. It does make me wonder ..... richard
Kathryn: R, don't be so evasive. Tel me what it is that you find dark and disturbing and what it is you wonder about.
Another interesting shot Kathryn. Can't quite make the scenery out - is that a shoreline to the left?
Personally I'm not sure about the "worm-cast" feel to the overlay of the shot - it detracts for me and I'm not sure what benefit it brings. But hey, you're shots are in a different league to mine, so what right have I to state my preferences?
Kathryn: Then we are in agreement because I find veils and masks distracting and wonder what benefits they bring too.
Great veiling effect. Well done Kathryn
Kathryn: Danke sehr, Richard.
Veils are effective levellers...they soften everything so that the "bell curve" does not have long tails...probably a negative attribute, except for matters sexual.
There...I have said it, so now can confess that I find this image...errrr...stimulating!
Kathryn: And I find your comment so right-on in regards to veils and masks. And then I think, they are after all, just veils or masks and the softening is just an illusion or, as Sheeplover noted, a distraction. What's the point?
Stimulating, Ray? You've stripped away the veil, haven't you?
I'm really enjoying the vein you are currently working in.
Kathryn: Nice to know you are enjoying it. I wonder what it is about it that you enjoy?
This image sent shivers down my spine. I am glad it's daytime! Great job creeping me out!
Kathryn: Allen, what is it about it that creeps you out?
Haunting, Kathryn. Veils are the layers that enshroud mystery. Nothing better than peeling them away, one at a time, to illuminate what lies beneath. Consciously or not and on many levels it's a lifelong activity. Beautifully done!
Kathryn: Indeed, Suzanne! I often find veils or masks disturbing because we generally put them on to alter some aspect of ourselves to be more acceptable to others. Perhaps it is a quick fix that pays off initially. However over the long haul, in reality what it does it is offer the other person something other than ourselves and in reality only serves to distance us. But you are right, we all wear them and peeling them off is a life long ongoing process.
I only see this from the context of the viewer and not from the point of view of the subject. In other words the veil makes us wonder about why the person is watching rather than about the subject of the gaze. (Having said all that, I do quite like the gesture with the hand, almost as if she is pulling back a veil/scarf to reveal her face)
For me the overlay, which looks like a wrought iron gate of something of that sort spoils the picture. The image behind has the look of a sketch done in charcoal or soft pencil and has a bleakness to it. I'd love to see this without the overlay.
Very abstract, almost ghostly.
*sigh* Kathryn I am a big fan of your pictures, this is so good. ( sorry I missed a day, have been busy)
I usually find I am able to make an interpretation of this type of presentation but in this case I am stumped.
Not saying I don't like it, I am saying I don't understand it's meaning.
This one does'nt grab me as much as your recent posts Kathryn.
Nothing wrong with a little dark, symbolic, mystical image...
A reflection? I really like the combination of elements and the mystery in the photo.
Love this - great atmosphere and concept.
