Water Buffalo
A couple of weeks ago, I posted Relecting on Fall and mentioned another picture that I took about 30 seconds later. As I was taking reflection pictures in the water around the buffalo's pen at the Hannover zoo, I saw a shadow cross my view and initially was a bit irrated, until the guy above stepped forward a bit more and cast his detailed shadow right into my field.

This is a good idea, but I find it a little untidy because it isn't clear if the leaves or the silhouette are the focus. Processing it to take out a lot of the details may be worth a try.
Kathryn: Thanks for your feedback, Martin. I will mess around with a slight variation of the colors and see if that clears things up. The leaves floating on the water were my focus, but that was before he buffaloed his way into my picture!
Ooooops! Don't agree with Martin on this.
The detail is great, Kathryn....especially the fantastic submerged leaves that are visible in the shadow.
Kathryn: Thanks, Ray, I really only paid attention to the shadow and the leaves on top, but you are right, there are many leaves in the shadow too.
K'. Looks like this was the devil on your back! ....challenging.richard.
Kathryn: R, I am happy to report to you that the devil was not on my back, the only change I made to this picture was to flip it over. I was safely across the water from him!
It looks like a one legged horse as kicked the buffalo. I like this.
Kathryn: Tracy, have you ever taken a Rorschach Inkblot test? I bet the results were VERY interesting
Kathryn: Thanks, aps!
this is so artistic work. nice find.
Kathryn: Thank you. glad you find it artistic.
the first one, poetic, this one has all the strengh of the fall-locrat..-understand?..euh my joke word..??-
beautiful capture!
Kathryn: Vera, you are too clever with your words. I had to google that one up! Thank you! I spent time on your blog and love your work!
Kathryn I love your pictures, the one of yesterday, sunset under the bridge is a great shot, but this one is just to be in the right spot at the right time, GREAT
Kathryn: Astrid, thank you so very much. I am glad you are enjoying my photos. Yup, I just happened to be in the right place at the right time!
This is wonderful! You must be delighted with this serendipitous shot. (:o)
Kathryn: Thanks, Rosalyn! Glad you like it!
almost abstract. I like it. mal
Kathryn: Thanks, mal! Glad you like it.
This is great just the way it is! Very surreal, you would definitely be getting a call from André Masson for the front cover of Minotaure if it was 1933!
Outstanding!
Kathryn: Thanks so much, Mike! Too bad it is not 1933, huh?
Extremely smart, What an Eye you have!!! Beautiful love the details in the water too!!
Kathryn: Thanks, Patrick. You are very complimentary!
I've just turned my screen 90 degrees anti clockwise and I reckon it makes an even better picture
Kathryn: Thanks for stopping in and looking, Bill. When I took the picture. he was standing on his head...well it was upside down. I thought of leaving it that way, but flipped him over. Maybe I should have only 1/2 flipped him!
Given the subject matter this looks so fragile - nice one Kathryn.
Kathryn: The leaves floating on the water, soften him right up, huh? Thanks much!
wow!
well done kathryn
Kathryn: Thanks, Doc!
An evil spirit comes to mind. If you can manage to add a horse's shadow, then I might whisper right to your ear: " You, Kathryn, and Picasso have things in common...remember Guernica, my dear?"
Kathryn: And you, VZ, say your ability to express in English is not perfected? Put away your English book, you are a master.
Spectacular and dreamlike all at once...
Kathryn: Thank you, Larry. I will pass it on to my buffalo!
Regarding Martin's comment; my opinion is to leave the photo as is. This is like a half-awake, half asleep image; the shadow of the beast creeping into the scene of beauty and peace. The soft focus of the shadow enhances that dream-like quality. I like it!
Kathryn: Patrushka, your intrepretation is creative and lovely. From now on when I look at this picture, I will remember your words. Thank you.
I love images with ambiguous qualities, that trigger the imagination into unanticipated journeys of thought and this one does all of that.
That hoof mark just takes it beyond reflection and leaves and gives it substance. I agreee with Blackdog about the magazine cover!
Stunning shot. I love it.
Brilliant reflection! Thank you for linking this photo to your current one!
Very good capture. Awesome reflection!
